Jerry Williams Obituary
Jerry C. Williams of Monticello, a retired staff sergeant for the United States Army, died Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 79.
The son of the late Lena Williams and Ernest Smith, he was born March 15, 1929 in Fairhope, Alabama.
Jerry was a member of the Bethlehem Temple Church in Monticello serving as a Deacon; a former member of the Free and Accepted Masons, and a retired veterans counselor for the New York State Dept. of Labor.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Delores Walker Williams, at home; a son, Stanley J. Williams & his wife, Pat of Rochester; a daughter, Michelle McNeal of Loch Sheldrake; ten grandchildren: Tyrece, Deshaya, Renata, Jade, Rashad, Terrence, Shamika, Jordan, Nya & Keyona; a great grandson, Demario; his mother-in-law, Estella Walker of Monticello; five sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Jean Allen.
Visitation will be held today, September 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello and on Saturday, September 6 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the Bethlehem Temple Church, Fairground Road in Monticello. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 12 noon at the church with Bishop Mervin Armstead officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Bethlehem Temple Church or to the Catskill Dialysis Center in Monticello.

Dear Evangelist Williams, Stan (Pat), Michelle, and family. I am sorry that I'm not able to be there with you. My husband, District Elder-Elect Ronald Mathis is on his way to be with you all on this day.
Deacon Williams is one of the kindest people I know. I will never forget his faithfulness to God and the people of God, not only at Bethlehem Temple but throughout the New York, Pennsylvania and New England States Council.

Another angel has been called to come home... Bro Jerry was a wonderful man with a huge heart and a peaceful soul. I met Bro Jerry 20 yrs ago when I was 10 yrs old. Through rain, sleet and snow, he made sure I had transportation to church every Sunday and Monday. Even when I stopped attending church, he always treated me the same. He always reminded me that he has not seen me in a while and encouraged me to attend church. I will always cherish the memory of such a wonderful, caring man in my heart forever. The family will remain in my prayers, God Bless.

I am so sorry for your loss. I loved Dec so much. I worked with him in the 80's at the Dept of Labor on Broadway in Monticello. He was such a wonderful human being. He always treated everyone with respect and love. He was so gentle and loving. He so loved the Lord and always loved talking about the Lord. I will miss him very much. May God continue his blessing upon his family.
