John Jones Obituary

Middletown, NY

John Paul Jones of Middletown, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Horton Campus, in Middletown with family by his side after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. He was 64.

The son of the late John and Georgette Jones, he was born on November 9, 1944 in the Bronx. John Paul was an active member of AA with 28 years sobriety. He was a chef and a jack of all trades.

"John Paul was a very caring person, always helping people in need. He was a phenomenal husband, father, grandfather and to many a friend."

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Regina Jones at home; his mother, Georgette of the Bronx; his children, Wendy Jones and her companion, Sean and James Jones and his wife Kimberly. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cierra 12; Taylor 6; Jersey 4; Jonathan 1 1/2, and Destiney 7 months; as well many loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Georgy.

We celebrate his kindness and humor, honored by his sparkling smile and personality. A person who was able to make a friend and many of them of all ages. His untimely death is hard to understand and accept for all of us who loved him and will be missed terribly and kept close in heart and spirit. May you have many jokes in heaven as you did on earth. We love you "poppy".

Visitation hours will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, at Christian Faith Fellowship, 510 M&M Rd., Middletown. Funeral Services will follow at 8 p.m.

The family extends their thank you to all who showed love from a prayer, phone call, text, hug or visit. Rest in Peace Dad.

Arrangements by Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbrouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc., Middletown, NY, 845-343-6023.

To Regina & Family,
John Paul is the reason I am alive, sober and successful today. Without his help 16 yrs ago I probably would never have made it. I will never forget him. My prayers are with you all , In Christ, John Casey.

Reggie,
I was so saddened to hear of John Paul's passing. I know we haven't seen each other in some time, but know that my memories of you and J.P. are wonderful ones. I remember the summers at Mom and John's (sochinski) and J.P. trying to "talk sense" into me when it came to the boys in the complex. (lol). He, like my stepfather John, was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
You and the family are in my prayers.

Regina and family,
John Paul was a man whose genuine concern for my happiness and serenity will never be forgotten. It seemed that whenever I went to a meeting, there he was extending his hand to the newcomer. May he rest in peace - he was a tireless worker carrying a message of hope to others.

John and I coached Little League together some 20+ years ago. It's been many years since I saw him but he always had a kind word and a handshake when we would bump into one another.
My sympathies to the family.
