John Watts Obituary

John W. Watts of Middletown, a retired Route Salesman for Wise Potato Chips in Middletown, and a lifelong resident of the area, entered into rest on Monday, April 30, 2007, at Park Manor Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Middletown, N.Y. He was 84.

The son of the late George B. and Jennie Brown Watts, he was born December 22, 1922 in Middletown, N.Y. He was the husband of the late Audrey Buchanan Watts, who died on September 19, 1994.

He was a proud veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II; a life member of B.P.O.E. # 1097 Elks Lodge in Middletown and a 49-year member of McQuoid Engine and Ladder Company #3 in Middletown.

Survivors include a son, John H. Watts and his wife, Kathleen of Middletown; a daughter, Donna Wohlschied and her husband, David of Vienna, Va.; two stepsons, Benjamin Lane III and his wife, Nancy of Huguenot, and Michael Lane and his wife, Patty of the state of South Carolina; three grandchildren: Jessica Citriniti and her husband, Dominick of Pine Bush, Shannon Watts and and his wife, Laurie of Greenville, and Mathew Wohlschied of Vienna, Va.; four step grandchildren: Breane, Kristen, Daniel and his wife, Heather, and Samuel; three great-grandchildren; one step great-grandson; a brother, Charles Watts and his wife, Beverly of the state of Florida; a sister, Elizabeth Durkin, also of the state of Florida; nieces, Sandy Swierski and her husband, Tom and Linda Crawford; sister-in-law, Madeline Leemon; great nephew and great-niece, Scott Swierski and Kelly Loiodice.

He was predeceased by his wife, Audrey, and by brothers, George and Franklin Watts.

Friends may call at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, N.Y., today, Wednesday, May 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., where Elks services will be conducted at 7 p.m., and McQuoid Engine & Ladder Company services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Reverend Kenneth Wonderland will officiate. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, N.Y., with inurnment in Cedar Hill Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made either to: McQuoid Engine & Ladder Co. #3, PO Box 452, Middletown, NY 10940, or to the Middletown Elks Lodge, 48 Prospect St., Middletown, NY 10940.
