Joseph Olympia Obituary

Formerly of Newburgh, NY

Joseph Olympia died on April 4, 2008 in Hallandale, FL. He was born on June 28, 1913 in Stoneco, NY, son of Maria Vincenza and Federico Maino Olympia.

The family moved to Newburgh, NY, where Joseph lived most of his life. He was a skillful carpenter and built or worked on many commercial and residential buildings in the area. He was one of a large family.

Brothers, Dominick, Gerald and Peter, and sisters, Rose Terenzi and Anna Pallazza preceded him in death. Surviving siblings include: Daniel Olympia, Irene Parisi and Josephine Dattoli.

Joseph was married to Dorothy Haddon. A son of this marriage, also named Joseph and also a carpenter, died recently and had blessed him with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was married to Dorothy Losee until her death. He married Denise Piette and they lived many years in New Windsor, NY and later in Hallandale, Fla.

Also surviving are Douglas Olympia, Sue Szelil, and daughter-in-law, Dotti, as well as their descendents, and several nieces and nephews.

During his last illness he was comforted by his wife, Denise who was with him at his bedside when he died.

Visitation and services are at the convenience of the family.
