Olga Askew Obituary

Monticello - Olga Wilnette "Billy" Askew entered into eternal life on October 26, 2007 at the Barnwell Nursing & Rehab Center in Valatie, N.Y. She was 77.

Olga was born on November 14, 1929 to the late Olga Lavinia Threatt Askew and the late Harold Askew.

She will always be remembered by her family as the life and joy of the family. Olga has always been known to have that spark of fire in her eyes. She loved to hang out in the community room of her building to socialize, do ceramics and play spades. She will be sadly missed by all of her friends.

Olga is survived by her caring children: Florence Palmer (George) of Monticello and Timothy Askew of New York City; a sister: Joyce Smith of Liberty; her devoted grandchildren: Elizabeth A. Jiles (Shamiek), Pedro M. Johnson, Sadie-Sha T. Turner Stebbins (Charles), Anquenette Neils and Nathaniel A.B. Martinez; great grandchildren: Pedro D.L. Johnson, Zakeeyah Johnson, Zayahna Johnson, Dezha Hunter, Zoe Jiles and many loving nieces, nephews & friends.

She was predeceased by a baby Timothy Askew.

The family would like to thank Albany Medical Center, Columbia Greene Hospice and Barnwell Nursing Home for the good care shown to our mother and grandmother.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 30 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John F. Lyde officiating.

Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.

Memorial contributions made to the family would be appreciated.

Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Wurtsboro. For additional information please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com
