Steven Pavlovic Obituary

Beacon - Steven J. Pavlovic, a longtime Beacon resident, died Saturday, October 27, 2007, at Wingate at Beacon. He was 80 years old.

Born in Newburgh on March 18, 1927, he was the son of Stephen and Mary Zilavy Pavlovic. He married the former Dorothea Tompkins. Mrs. Pavlovic predeceased him in 1998.

Mr. Pavlovic was a milkman, first working at the former Emmadine Farms and then for Fitchett Brothers, retiring in 1975. From 1975 to 1992, he was the sexton and caretaker at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Beacon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Sovbarissen. He was a parishioner of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Beacon. He was a former member of St. Luke's Vestry and St. Luke's Softball and Dartball Leagues. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, cooking, and gardening and was "the best Poppy".

Mr. Pavlovic is survived by his children: Nancy Fezza and her husband, Jerry of Kingwood, Texas, Steven J. Pavlovic and his wife, Tracy of Beacon, and Cindy Guarneri and her husband, Joe of Beacon; his grandchildren: Jana & Matthew Fezza, Steven, Todd, & Sarah Pavlovic, Kayla, Joey, Tyler, Steven, & Ryan Guarneri, and Jeffrey & Joyell Dunay; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Pavlovic of California; his sister, Jean Sauntry of Newburgh.

A daughter, Holly Dunay, in 1996, and a sister, Rita Morrison, predeceased him.

Visitation was held on Monday, October 29, at the Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow St., Beacon, NY 12508; 845-831-0380.

A funeral service will be offered today, Tuesday, October 30, at 1 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 850 Wolcott Ave., Beacon, NY 12508. Interment will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery.

Donations in Mr. Pavlovic's memory may be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley, 832 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591.
