Bloomingburg, NY

Theodore "Teddy" Hummel of Bloomingburg NY, died on Sunday September 28 at Middletown Park Manor. He was 76.

The son of the late Martin and Jennie Towne Hummel, Teddy was born on December 21, 1931 in Wurtsboro. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Cy Warden. Teddy married Sally M. Stephens on July 8, 1956 in a double wedding ceremony. He was a member of the Bloomingburg Fire Dept. and Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Teddy worked for 25 years for N.Y.S. Dept. of Transportation as a construction equipment operator. Teddy will be remembered by his family and friends as fiercely independent. He loved hunting and ice fishing and was an animal lover. He was kind and would help anyone who was in need.

He is survived by his son, Ted Hummel, Jr.; his daughter, Doreen June and her husband, Richard, all of Bloomingburg; his first cousins, George Lewis, Linda Beach, Sally Gray, Chester Lewis, Cora Van Kleek, Wesley Hummel; and grandchildren, Jessica Hummel of People, WA, Wayne and Cassandra June of Bloomingburg.

Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, September 30, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY.

A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, at the funeral home, Fr. Raymond Bagdonis, O.Carm. will officiate. Burial will follow in Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery, Rt. 17m, Bloomingburg.
