Vincent Palmieri Obituary

Goshen, NY

Vincent R. Palmieri, 59, of Goshen, entered into peace, his family by his side, on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at home in Goshen. He had waged a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Vincent was born August 15, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Vincent Palmieri and Marie Cagnetta Palmieri.

He worked at Helen Hayes Hospital for 32 years first as a Research Scientist and later became a Certified Orthotist. He took great pride in his work and always provided his patients the very finest care.

An accomplished musician and songwriter, Vincent wrote dozens of beautiful songs, and for 25 years was a member of a local rock and roll band called the Bone Boys. He also donated his considerable creative talents to community theatre companies in Orange and Rockland as a set builder and sound technician, however, Vincent's family, children, stepchildren and grandchildren were joys of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie Heitczman Palmieri, at home; his mother, Marie Palmieri of Lakewood, NJ; sons, Jovan and wife, Kristin of Elk River, MN, Steven Palmieri of New York, NY; stepsons, Craig Heitczman, at home, Kevin Heitczman, at home; daughter, Elba Marie Palmieri of East Brunswick, NJ; brother, Michael Palmieri and wife, Denise of Mount Hope, NY; sisters, Maryanne Whittel and husband Linford of Tucson, AZ, Carolyn Palmieri and husband, Tony Calderone of Weehawken, NJ; five grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Vincent Palmieri.

Memorial visitation will be Thursday, May 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Donovan Funeral Home, 82 S. Church St., Goshen, NY.

A Memorial Service will be Friday, May 23, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Murray Ave., Goshen. Burial will be private.

Donations can be made in his name to a charity of one's choice.

To the Palmieri Family and all who loved Vinnie. HHH will truly miss Vinnie and we know that we will all see him again.

Laurie you are a strong lady. I will never forget coming into work in the mornings and I will see you and Vinnie walking in together. I always said to myself "that is called real love" and God has placed you both together for a reason.

You all are in my prayers forever.
