Walter H. Thompson Sr.

Walter H. Thompson Sr., a lifetime resident of Florida, N.Y. and retired employee for MacVicar Avation in Middletown, entered into rest on Tuesday May 29, 2007 in Elant at Goshen. He was 78 years old.

The son of Walter H. and Catherine Sherlock Thompson, he was born January 10, 1929 in Goshen, N.Y. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church Florida, N.Y.

"Walter loved his family especially his grandchildren. He had a passion for airplanes, model airplanes, and John Deere tractors. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him."

Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Thompson at home, daughters, Kathleen Brancaccio and husband, John of Goshen, and Doreen Hamel and husband, Steven of Florida, N.Y.; son, Walter H. Thompson Jr. and his wife, Martha of Spring Glen; grandchildren: John and Jason Brancaccio, Melissa Smith and husband, Dan, Matthew Hamel, Colleen Hamel, and Walter III and Brian Thompson; daughter-in-law, Patricia Thompson, and two sisters, Eleanor Benish and Ceil Durana.

He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Benish, and sister, Catherine Mazoff.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, June 1, at St. Edwards Church, Florida, N.Y.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 31, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.S. Purta Funeral Home, 22 Glenmere Ave., Florida, N.Y.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Florida, N.Y.
