William Hannold of Liberty passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 72.
He was the son of the late William H. Hannold and Marion Walton and his mother Minnie Gorr Hannold, born on January 24, 1947 in Kane, PA.
William proudly served our country in the U.S. Army from 1966 until 1968 during Vietnam as a Spec 4 Combat Engineer. He worked as maintenance supervisor for 33 years for the Town of Fallsburg. In his free time he volunteered his time as Little League Coach for Tri-Valley Brewers, and was involved in the softball leagues in Liberty and Ellenville. He was a member of the Dennis Akerley Post in Neversink and was VFW Commander, he was also a member of the AMV in Woodbourne. He was known to be a joker, he would joke around no matter where he was, he would often tease the kids by squeezing during handshakes. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years whom he married on July 1, 1972, Margaret; his children: William Hannold and Shawn Edwards and wife, Dawn; grandchildren: Jodi Revell and Jeffery, Jamie Edwards, Shawn Edwards and Courtney and Corey Hannold; as well as great-grandchildren: Robert, Jake and Zach Cothren, Serenity and Annabella Revell, Sophia Grace Bubbico, Lilliani Barreto; and his siblings Don Hannold, Ron Hannold, Dennis Hannold (Linda), George Hannold, Sally Crary, Vicky Smith (Gene), Eric Hannold (May), Barbara Gorr (Lester), Dwayne Hannold (Stella), and Roger Hannold.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 23 at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52, Woodbourne, NY 12788. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 24th at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
