Yolanda Bates Obituary
Daughter of the late Antonetta Maldari and Pietro Piscitelli, she was born in Highland Falls on September 18, 1928.
Yolanda was a retired pre-school teacher at West Point Child Development Center in West Point, N.Y. and was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls where she served as a lector, extra Eucharistic minister and CCD teacher receiving a 25 year recognition certificate from the Diocese of New York. She was also a member of the third order of Franciscans. She was the widow of Herbert E. Bates.
Survivors include her daughter, Amy M. Rosado and her husband, Jose of Highland Falls; sisters, Mary Hearney of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Anna Axup and husband, William of Rock Island, Ill.; two grandchildren, Amy Jo and Joseph Rosado; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Bessie Pellegrini.
Friends may call on Friday, April 20, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls, N.Y.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Sacred Heart Church in Highland Falls, N.Y. Rev. Jack Arlotta will officiate. Interment will be in Post Cemetery on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 1:30 P.M.
Contributions may be made to Franciscan Sisters of Peace, 20 Ridge St., Haverstraw, NY 10927.

Dear Amy, Jose, Amy Jo and Joey,
I am heartbroken to hear about your mother and grandmother. She was truly a light in this world and I will never forget her cheerfulness and strength. Just going up her steps reminded me of that feeling of joy when going on vacation or to my grandmother's--just love and warmth and open arms. You are very fortunate to have had those steps to climb. Amy and Family,
On behalf of all the Flemings I want to extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences. Your Mom was a very special person and a true example of what Christianity is meant to be. I will always remember her for her kind ways and constant smile. Our Mom Katherine and Dad Dave were dear friends of your Mom and Dad and thought the world of both of them.And the rest of us feel the same. May God bless all of you and give you strength to carry on. Know Mom touched many lives and we are part of that.
