KENNETH DeWITT Obituary

Kenneth DeWitt surrounded by his immediate family passed away quietly on April 6 after a short illness. He was born November 27, 1916 in Red Bluff and is survived by his wife, Alta of 72 years who was his Red Bluff High school sweetheart. Ken was a Red Bluff Spartan (football) and graduated in 1935.

After graduation he and Alta moved to Greenville, CA where he started his welding shop business.

In 1949 Ken decided to venture into a new kind of business, logging. With that he, Alta and the kids moved to Trinity County. Ken owned and operated his own logging company. He successfully logged for many years and sold his company for a new speculation. Something Ken always had an interest in was farming. He and Alta returned home to Tehema County in 1966. He enjoyed developing, planting and harvesting his business of walnut, prune and pistachio orchards He found being on the ASCS County Committee Board very gratifying and enjoyed working with people. Another proud part of Ken's life was being an Elk member of 52 years. Ken was an ambitions man and had aspirations for flying an airplane. He had many fun flying trips with his nephew.

Kenny is survived by his children, Ronald "Pug" {Barbara} DeWitt of Redding and Marlys {Glen} Owens of Palo Cedro. Four Grandchildren, Ron DeWitt, Red Bluff, Don DeWitt, Redding, Pam Heffley Fall River Mills, Glwen Bean, Gerber. Nine Great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

His nieces and nephews were a valuable part of his life; June Tabor, Red Bluff, Pat Hulesman, Rob Hulesman, Red Bluff, Edward Hulesman, Switzerland and Herb Hulesman, Fremont, CA.
The family will miss Grandpa Kenny's gentle smile.

A memorial will be held May 3rd at 1:00pm at Red Bluff Elks Lodge, Gilmore Road. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to charity of your choice.
