Ada "Marie" Ewing obituary

Ada Ewing Obituary

October 8, 1926 – October 27, 2011
MONMOUTH, OR – Born in Russell Springs, Kentucky to Ira D and Alta Pearl Foley, Marie was one of eight siblings. She met Carl (Roy) Carlson in 1946 in Louisville Kentucky and they were married in 1950. They resettled in Los Angeles in 1952. She was divorced and remarried to Robert "Bob" Ewing in 1960. They relocated to Redding, CA in 1965. After Bob passed on in 1986 she met and shared her life with Ron "Monty" Montgomery. In 2005, after Ron passed away she moved one more time to Monmouth, OR to live near her son and his family. She passed peacefully at 11:15 a.m. October 27th, 2011 after a long illness.
After her own mother passed when she was a girl, she took over many of her mother's duties, caring for her siblings and maintaining the household. When she was grown she moved to Louisville, Ky. to work in a defense plant for the war effort (WWII). Later she found work at the restaurant in the Louisville airport. She worked as a waitress most of the rest of her life.
The Holiday Inn was a significant part of Marie's life in Redding, as she worked there for more than a decade, as Head Waitress and in charge of the Dining Room. In semi-retirement she worked at a Hallmark shop for a time.
Marie worked hard, loved life, and enjoyed laughing with family and friends. She was very creative, enjoying arts and crafts, knitting and sewing and candle making. She enjoyed nature, and in her later years loved to watch birds out her kitchen window, and the changing seasons. She loved spending time with her family.
She leaves a son, Michael Carlson Timshel, and a daughter, Cindy Carlson Stearns, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all.
There will be a graveside service at Redding Memorial Park on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 2 p.m. with a reception following the service.
A celebration of her life will be held at her home in Monmouth, at 11605 Helmick Rd, on Friday, November 4th, from 4 to 6 p.m. Flowers can be sent to Mike Timshel, 11650 Helmick Rd. Monmouth, or donations can be made to The Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon.
