Carlin Davis

1920 - 2012

On a clear and beautiful day in southern Oregon, the Lord called our beloved Carlin back home. Carlin passed away from natural causes after living a wonderful and full life. At her side was her loving and caring daughter, Patti. Carlin was born in Medford Oregon in August of 1920 to Mr.and Mrs. Donn V. Piatt and completed her Bachelors degree in 1945 from Oregon State, the same year she married the love of her life, Maurice Tom Davis.

They eventually moved to Redding, as Tom accepted a teaching position at the newly opened Shasta College. Beginning in 1948, Tom and Carlin started a family, giving birth to Patti in 1947 and then James in 1951.

Carlin was an active member of AAUW, played bridge with passion and enjoyed the company of her many friends from the College. After a few years of being a wonderful mother and housewife, she decided to return to school and obtain her teaching credential at Chico State, commuting back and forth on a weekly basis. She shared her passion and knowledge as a teacher with her students at Red Bluff High School, retiring along with her husband in the early 70's. She and Tom then moved to Happy Camp, built a home and enjoyed life tending their garden and chasing away the bears. They would take their travel trailer during the winter months and spend time in Mexico and the Southern California desert. Tom passed away in 2001 and Carlin once again found her home in Southern Oregon, living in a retirement community in Ashland. She leaves behind a daughter Patti (Thomas), a son James (Diane) and two grandchildren, Casey and Jamie.

Her humor, wonderful attitude toward others and passion for education will be greatly missed from those who knew and loved her. Carlin, we miss you already but know that your faith has allowed you to be with our Lord. Until we meet again, know that you will always be in our hearts.
