Carol Davis Obituary

Carol Ann Davis

Redding, CA

1942 - 2017

Carol Ann Davis, of Redding, California passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Vibra Hospital. She spent her last weeks surrounded by the love of her three sons, extended family, and friends.

Carol Ann was born in 1942 in San Francisco, California to Harry and Zona Marks. Carol graduated from San Jose State. In 1965, she married Patrick Beasley with whom she had three sons, Timothy, Michael, and Brian.

Carol was a dedicated elementary school teacher, starting her career in San Jose, later moving to St. Joseph's in Redding, and retiring from her teaching career at Lassen View Elementary in Redding, CA. Although Carol was an amazing kindergarten teacher, her true passion was her family. She was lovingly known as Nana. She was a gifted cook, and her family will not soon forget Nana's Christmas morning quiche, her chicken with mushrooms dinner, nor her potato salad. Her home was known to all as warm and welcoming, notably hosting decades of beautiful Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.

In 1989 Carol married Donald Davis, a retired Marine Corp Officer. They enjoyed more than 26 years of marriage until Don fell ill and passed away in November 2016. Carol is also preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Zona Marks.

Carol is survived by her sons, Timothy (Mary), Michael (Michele), and Brian (Roxanne); her eight grandchildren: Jackson, Sydney, Joseph, Ellie, Brooklyn, Maxwell, Madeline, and Samantha; her younger brother: Rich Marks (Annie) and her two nephews Lyell and Teddy (Kylie); and her grandnephews and grandniece: Barrett, Braden and Alora.

The family of Carol Davis wishes to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Vibra Hospital who cared for her during her final weeks. A special thank you also to Father Scott Mitchell, Father David Webb, and Deacon Paul Shepard from St. Luke's Anglican Church and the entire congregation for their love, support, visits, and prayers during this difficult time.

A Requiem Mass will be held for Carol on Thursday, September 28th at 10am at St. Luke's Anglican Church in Redding.

I value our time as cub scout mothers, as neighbors, and working together at Lassen View School. You were one of a kind, Carol. A sweet and gracious lady. God bless. BJ and Tim Olson

Carol was a sweet and lovely lady, who we really enjoyed knowing when we were all younger. We had some fun times camping and picnicking and just getting together. Carol always had a smile and and a great attitude. We have always regretted our lives grew apart, but our memories of her are only a joy.

Everyone loved Carol. Her radiant smile and warmth drew others to her. I first met Carol when her son, Brian, attended St. Joseph's. She was a wonderful mother and great supporter of the school. Later, I would often run into Carol at the grocery store where she would update me on her grandchildren. Carol was ageless, just as beautiful inside and out as the day I met her. She had the gift to make all who knew her feel special. I will miss her. Debbie Oppezzo

It was a true joy to work with Carol at Lassen View School. Never would you see Carol not smiling, laughing and almost glowing. She truly loved her students and family. Carol was every Principals dream teacher:)

She loved life and all that it provided. Inspiring all of us to be happy, giving and loving each and everyday.

Bless you my friend.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Carol was a beautiful soul. I worked with Carol at Lassen View. She was a dedicated teacher, mentor and sincere friend. Teaching was her passion. Our daily talks were mostly about her family. She really glowed as she shared important family milestones. She was so in love with her husband and was proud of her children. As we grew older we bragged about our lovely grandchildren. Carol, I've always been fond of you and I've loved our time together. Rest in peace, dear one. May your family find comfort in their sweet memories of you.
