Daniel Cherry Obituary
Palo Cedro, CA

Daniel "Dan" Cherry, 88, passed away at his home in Palo Cedro after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vivian, and daughters Dina Talison of Redding and Letty Kreger (Bobby) of Riverside. He is also survived by granddaughter Leila Tailson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, H. Clay Sr. and Virginia, brother Obie, Cary and H. Clay Jr., and sister Mary.
Dan was a life-long Shasta County resident. He was born in Redding and was the youngest of five children. He worked for the California Department of Transportation for almost 39 years before his retirement in 1987.
Dan was also a local artist, known for his skill with both watercolors and photography. He was a member of the Photographic Society of America for 59 years and a long-time member of the Intermountain Artist Association. Dan was a past member of the Highland Art Center in Weaverville and also service on the board of the Redding Museum.
Services will be held on Friday, June 3 at 2:00 pm at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery, 11800 Gas Point Road, Igo, CA.

Dear Vivian, Larry and I were saddened to hear of Dan's passing. I have many fond memories of him from Caltrans. He was always ready to chat. I cherish the watercolor retirement card he painted for me and also the watercolor he did for mom's(EstherEspich) retirement. The north state has lost a gifted artist and photographer. Hoping fond memories will help you get through this difficult time. We were out of town when Dan's notice was in the paper and we have a prior commitment on Friday so we won't be able to attend his service. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Vivian and Family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Dan worked with my Dad (Harlan) at the Division Of Highways, later known as CalTrans, and was a dear family friend. I remember the wonderful photographs he took, too. Take care.

We are saddened by Dan's passing, wishing very much to be with Viv, Dina, Letty and all at this time. I remember the first time I met Dan, when he and Viv showed up at our home in Riverview in his very sporty sports car--dazzling couple, dazzling car. And one of my proudest moments as a young teen was when Dan said he liked a picture I had taken--a high compliment from a great photographer! We'll all miss Dan.
