Floyd Peery Obituary

Floyd Leroy Peery

1944 - 2011

On July 30, 2011 Floyd Leroy Peery, also known to many as 'Butch' - went home to be with his beloved Savior Jesus Christ.

Floyd is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Winifred Peery, and his eldest brother Jim Peery.

His survivors include: The love of his life Bonnie Peery, his brothers David Peery and Fred Peery, his sisters Arlene Hawks and Christine Johnson, his children and their spouses Ron and Kim Peery, Michael and Jenny Peery, Latisha Peery, and Winann Peery. Also his grandchildren Justin Peery, Brittany Peery, Cortney Peery and many other adopted grandchildren and extended family members.

Floyd was born March 15, 1944 in Roseburg Oregon, his family moved to the Anderson area when he was the age of three. He attended Anderson High School and graduated in 1962, then attended Western Baptist Bible College.

In 1964 Floyd married his high school sweetheart Bonnie, who he was married to for 47 years.

Over the years Floyd worked at many different jobs, the most memorable are working at Jim's Chervon in Cottonwood, and then later in life working for the City of Redding in the electric department where he formed several long time friendships and enjoyed many lunchtime and rainy day card games.

Floyd will be remembered most for his strong, unwavering faith and his love of Jesus. He was one of the founding families of Faith Reformed Church in Anderson, where he served for more than thirty years in the office of deacon.

Floyd had a deep committed love for his family and friends; he showed this not only with his words of encouragement, but also with his actions. If there was ever a need, Floyd was there to lend a helping hand; he had the ability to repair almost anything. He will also be remembered for his sense of humor, his loving smile, his laughter, and his endless compassion. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. Some of our best memories of Floyd will be of him telling stories around a campfire, especially large fish tales.

Funeral services will be held at Faith Reformed Church in Anderson,
located at 3291 Rupert Road, Friday August 5th at 10:00 am.
A graveside service and a reception at Fusaro Hall located at the Anderson Fairgrounds will follow.

Wow, I just found this trying to look up a good old friend and mentor. I worked with Floyd at the electric dept. I was his troubled side kick as ways in the shop with him watching and learning lol. He was a great teacher and a great friend! I will miss you my friend and all the great hunting and fishing stories you told. See you on the other side when we get to walk the streets of gold.

To all the Peery family,
Floyd was a great friend to the Powell family for many years. Some of my earliest memories are of the times that our families spent together in worship and in fellowship. Thank you Floyd for your friendship to my family and your years of faithfulness to the Body of Christ. You will be missed. Blessings to you Bonnie, may God's love and peace surround you and your family.
Sincerly,

Dear Bonnie and your family and friends,

I knew Floyd a long time from school in Anderson, being there from fifth grade on myself. I didn't get the chance to get to know him as well as now I wish I had, but I always thought of Floyd as such a sweet person, always friendly, always welcoming and I so enjoyed seeing him at the reunions. I can easily see how 'Butch' was so loved and did contribute to his family, friends and community with his personality.
We have lost so many in our class and was saddened to see that one more has gone, I know he is in the hands of God and is loved 'there' too, but I send hugs to you and all the family and angels to comfort you.
Blessings to you and yours,

Bonnie and Family,

My family contacted me concerning Butches passing over. I was deeply sorry to hear of your loss. Butch has a special place in my heart as he and I attended school together from Kindergarten to High School graduation. He is in all of my class pictures. Also we grew up in the same neighborhood, living only about four houses down on Deschutes road. As a kid I remember that he played tricks on unsuspecting others and got into mischief. I moved away but we would meet again at the class reunions. He always had such twinkling eyes and a sincere wonderful smile. The most loving memory I have of Butch was when he attended both of my parent’s funerals. I was so touched that he took the time to come and honor their memory. Then again, that was who I knew Butch to be, always having time to help others. To have raised a loving family, to have many friends and to have made a contribution to his community, for me, that is the measure of a very successful life. How lucky I was to know him. I will miss my neighbor and classmate.
Sincerely, Ella Elsemore -Fredricksen

Butch was a good friend, a mentor in my younger years and I will never forget working with him at the Chevron in Cottonwood. He always had a smile on his face and a bad joke to tell! The world has lost a great man this week, but Heaven just got a little better. My prayers and thoughts are with the entire Peery family in this difficult time.

We little knew that day that God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

XOXO See you in Heaven Uncle Butch!

Dear Bonnie and Family,

We never know what each day may bring here on earth, but we do know our eternal position is not on this earth. What rejoicing there will be in our eternal life where there will be no more sorrow our tears. I first met Bonnie and Butch at Bible Camp in High School. I later knew them better when I became a member of the same church. I have many happy memories as I saw their children and grandchildren grow up. What a wonderful legacy has been left to his family. God Bless and comfort each of you.

In His Love,

Papa’s Joy

When I think of Papa I will remember his hands
Worn and weathered not afraid of hard work
The secrets they held with the ability to fix things
Scars that show the signs of a life spent helping others
Hands that took the greatest joy in tossing a grandbaby in the air
Not afraid to hold another’s hand in a time of need
Carrying flowers to the sick and the widowed
Dressed with the wedding band of his lifetime love
Hands that had no problem patting a friend on the back
They knew secrets to luring out the biggest fish
And winning at a game of cards
Hands that weren’t afraid to pick up a phone
Willing to accept payment in popsicles
Sneaking the biggest slice of berry pie
Steady hands that held a rifle to shoot a trophy buck
Folded in prayer and worshipping Jesus
But most of all we will remember his heart
A heart filled with joy at the smallest things
Full of laughter and not afraid to play a joke, or tease
That understood the value of good advice and kind words
Large enough to be a Father and Grandpa to those without
Filled with the love of his family and friends
So now our hands feel a little emptier
And our hearts are breaking
We take comfort in knowing
That we were loved by a man
With a heart that truly belonged to Jesus
Now that Heaven has called our Papa home.

Butch was a lifelong friend of ours, and we loved his family dearly. We were present at his wedding to Bonnie and rejoiced when his children were born. Although separated by many miles since 1986, it seemed that every time we saw him and Bonnie, we could just pick up where we left off. Butch will be missed. As we loved his father and mother, Floyd and Winnie, so we loved their children and grandchildren. God bless you all. Bud and Penny Powell.

To my Dad, one last hug, one last kiss and one last Thank You. Thank you for instilling a love of the Lord, a strong commitment to family and your way of looking at life, in me and my children. Thank you for leaving me with your set of high moral values, your common sense, and your ability to joke around and not take everything so seriously. Thank you for being an inspiration to so many in your short 67 years. You have set the bar for me and my family to follow, and have always been the guiding rod for my life. Thank you for being my Dad, the best man at my wedding, my children’s Grandpa, and my best friend. You will be long missed and never forgotten.
