I miss Gerald every day. I can never say enough about Gerald. He was the John Wayne of the Glass business. I'm sure Hes still doing Glass jobs in heaven. A big-hearted rock of a man for sure. I truly miss the Christmas parties. Gerald loved his wife Wanda and all of his family. He loved Sunbelt and commanded first class work always paying attention to the details. We love you, Gerald. Gerald was a great man and business man as well. Gerald and I had some lively times both on and off jobsites. Gerald loved life and especially his wife and kids. Gerald did many projects for me and as always delivered a premium on time quality job. Gerald honestly cared about delivering a world class job from start to finish. Old Gerald always shared his life about him and his brother running up and down Jacksboro hwy. In his younger years I'm pretty sure he could knock anyone out with one punch . Gerald always called me a Rascal. I took off in 2005 to Hattiesburg Mississippi chasing Construction work after Hurricane Katrina did millions of dollars in damage. Gerald drove all the way to Jackson just to pick me up and make the drive on to Hattiesburg. Actually it gave Gerald the chance to try his luck at a few Casinos. I did find a great deal of work but as Gerald said it would be hard to pull his men away from Fort Worth. I took several of my guys and yes did make a lot of money but everyone got homesick so they left me. Gerald always called me to make sure I was alright. I told him everyone left after stuffing their pockets with cash. He asked how I was going to get everything back home ? Around 4:00 Am Gerald showed up driving all the way from Fort Worth just to help me get home. It was two days before Thanksgiving 2005. Sunbelt had the best Christmas parties we loved being invited. Gerald called me and ask if I could help finish his childhood home in Lake worth, Started out rebuilding the first floor then He and Wanda wanted to add a second floor just for Michael. I had no plans but figured out what would work with their budget. Wanda got a little upset about their budget. I don't think she new that I had to pay for my insurance Liability and workers comp. I did the best I could and Gerald loved it. He walked in before I started the second floor and told me that Wanda wanted the stairs by the front door. I told him I had another location in mind that would save money and time. He stood there for a minute and said what Wanda wants she gets. Enough said she got her way. I was proud knowing this was where he grew up. Gerald shared many stories about growing up in this house. Gerald was my hero in many ways. He knew is stuff 360. Gary loved my mentally challenge brother Gary who passed away back in 2017. Gary would tell Gerald he was the boss. Gerald would just laugh and took him to lunch many times. In his big Old Man way he made Fort Worth a better place. When my company did the Bennigan's Restaurant location @ 5th and Houston after the tornado did massive destruction I gave Sunbelt the contract. Gerald loved stopping by just to see if he could help out. I had a ninety day start to finish schedule as the GC Silvertree Commercial. Inspections were tough in Downtown Fort Worth. We did everything right but because of all the Construction Downtown it was tough getting inspectors out. I can't say just how much I appreciated Gerald calling building inspectors he knew asking for a favor. After Gerald got involved inspectors would drop by everyday. Another example of just how much I loved him. Without Gerald the job would have been weeks late. Sadly Bennigans filed bankruptcy in 2003 owing my company over 4 million dollars and shut my company down for good. I dearly miss Gerald and about anywhere you drive around Fort Worth from schools to retail it's not hard to find a quality Sunbelt Job. God Bless you Gerald. I do hope to see you again.

Wow...Gerald was my best friend. It was a privilege and honor to know him. So many memories working with Gerald and the fun we had playing slot machines and drinking a coke. He was a truly amazing man and one that I will never forget. When Gerald asked me to design and remold his old homestead I told him what do you want me to do ? It started out as a one story and ended up with a room upstairs for his grandson Michael. Wanda had a wonderful husband that thought the world of her. He always told me how she was his first lady of everything. You will always be missed by me and the kids. I was looking up your phone number today Dec.15,2015 and was shocked when I saw that you had passed. A giant man with a heart of gold. God Bless you my friend. Mike,Skylar,Gary and Kaeden Chappell. I know that God has another glass job waiting for you.

Although I didn't know him as well as I wish I had, I know he left behind a beautiful legacy. He was respected in business for his honesty and hard work and was loved unconditionally by his friends and especially his family. This world was a better place with him in it and he will be greatly missed. Love you TK

Gerald Gilbreath went to school with my older siblings during the 50's at LW and they, like the rest of our large extended family (Domineys), talked about him like he was famous. My sister said she compared him to Tarzan! He was a Hero and the whole town was proud of him. I was so excited years later to have his youngest girl,Geri as a student in my Vocational Office class at Castleberry High. I made sure I got her the best job and always a "A". I think the Dominey's and the Gilbreath's were supposed to be connected. Glad we knew him and his family. Someone to brag about....May he rest in peace and with pride.
Love, Judy Dominey McClurkan

Lana and I are very saddened about the loss of our dear friend, Gerald. I first met Gerald at the Lake Worth skating rink about 1949. I remember watching him play football at the old stadium - he was terrific and his roller skating talents were superb. Later, we boxed in the Golden Gloves. Over the years we did a lot of windows and mirror business together as well. I told Gerald a few years ago "Gerald, of all the mirrors you've done in our homes and business, the jobs have all been great - the mirrors were just beautiful." Gerald's reply was "you know why they were so beautiful, don't you? What did you see when you looked at them?" After a couple of moments, I responded, "Myself"? What a guy!! He was always so responsive. He was my hero and I will miss him.

Our condolence to the Gilbreath family. We knew Mr. Gilbreat at the dialysis clinic and every time my husband Blas came out of first shift he would always greet us with a smile and call and say to my husband "hello friend" with a big smile. We'll miss him very much.
