John Metz Obituary

John Evans Metz

millville, CA

John passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 19, 2015 after a long illness. He was born in Orange, CA on August 14th, 1961. He was 54.

He is survived by his daughter Teilah Metz, son Dakota Metz, mother, Sylvia Metz all of Millville, CA, brother Paul Metz of Crescent City, CA, brother and sister in law Mark and Kori Metz of Whitmore, CA, two grandchildren which he adored Jaxon and John Wesley and many nieces, nephews and their children.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Metz, brother Mike Metz, sister Gretchen Metz, son John Wesley Metz, his childrens mothers Tammy Metz (John Wesley, Teilah), and Sandra Metz (Dakota).

John attended Millville Elementary and Enterprise High School where he was an outstanding athlete in Football, Basketball, Baseball and Boxing and continued playing softball most of his life.

After high school, he married his high school sweetheart Lori Nixon and along with his sister Gretchen, they followed brother Paul to Dutch Harbor, Alaska where he fished for Alaskan King Crab for a couple years. (Dangerous Catch on TV).

After they all left Alaska he went to work for Bectel Corporation as a crane operator with Paul as his supervisor. When John moved back to Shasta County, he went to work for Miller Bros. Const., Cox and Cox Const., and several others as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver.

John will be missed by many. As per John's request, he wanted a party not a funeral when he died. Private family services were held at Millville Cemetery where he was laid to rest beside his son John Wesley and John Wesley's mother Tammy Metz.

John's last party will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 6th at 12-Noon at Millville IOOF Hall, 22551 Silverlodge Rd., (off Silverbridge Rd) Palo Cedro, CA.

In lieu of flowers, if you would like to bring a dish of food or beverage of choice to share with others, please do so.

Also please bring any pictures and stories to share with everyone. Hope to see you all there.

We are so sorry for your loss. I remember John as young man full of adventures and fun. He loved teasing me and making me laugh by doing outrageous things. He was always trying to keep up with his older brothers. He found ways to do so being the youngest brother! This photo is very good of him.
