Kenneth Kish Obituary

Ken died in the comfort of his Shasta, CA home after a two year illness with colorectal cancer.

A quiet man with a quick wit, a true gentleman, jack of all trades, engineering repairs with what was at hand. His patience extended to his hunting and fishing skills. Later in life, Ken traded his rifle scope for a camera lense to capture the nature he so respected.

The youngest of nine children, Ken was raised on an old pear ranch in Colfax, CA. His mother died when he was nine years old, and his father was a fireman in Oakland, CA for 25 years.

Ken was a mechanic by trade, beginning in Colfax, CA at Kauffman Chevrolet, later owning his own business, Ken's Auto Electric in Auburn, CA. In his late 30's, Ken was hired by PG&E as a field mechanic retiring after 25 years.

While living in Fortuna, CA with his oldest sister Helen, Ken met his future wife, Pat, where they were both attending high school. Their first date was on Pat's 16th birthday.

Ken is cherished by his wife Pat, married 52 years, their children; Russell Kish (Michele), Wendy Kish, both living in Mariposa, CA, where Ken and Pat lived for 23 years, Lynette Trau (Brandon), grandson Jacob Kish, mother-in-law Dolores Barnes, aunt Donna Thomas of Fortuna, CA, brother-in-law David Scott (Christel) and nephew Bob Kauffman (Judy) of Middleown, CA. Lonnie, their oldest son is waiting for Pop's arrival home.

A celebration of Ken's life will be held at a later date at his home in Shasta.

My thoughts of You are close at heart. Ken truly was a great guy. The obit. describes him well... as the man I knew, plus so much more! I know that he was deeply loved by his family and will be sorely missed. I'm so sorry for your loss. Love from Patti Sue

Like the lens of your camera Ken, our memories have such clarity of the man with the quiet words of meaning. We are so grateful for the times we shared; it's been more than a pleasure - happy trails. Bob and Judy

I do not remember ever seeing Ken with a beard. Great picture! I did not know him long but our friendship grew as we got to know Pat and Ken as neighbors in Trinidad. Ken did not say much but when he spoke it was always something fun or very meaningful and he listened, that is a gift. The both of you will always have a very special place in my heart. All my love to you Pat and your family.
