Linda Dyer Obituary

Linda (Lake) Dyer

Redding, CA

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Linda Carol Dyer on 5/21/18 after a courageous battle with colon cancer and the complications that followed. Linda was born on 7/11/49 in Redding. She graduated from Shasta High School in 1968. Linda relocated to the Sacramento area, and worked as a Revenue Collection Specialist for the County of Sacramento until she retired.

In 1991, Linda began the journey of sobriety by becoming a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. It was there that Linda developed strong support systems, and successfully over came her addiction to alcohol. She proudly celebrated 27 years of continuous sobriety three months before her passing. Linda's faith in a higher power - God, and the AA program kept her fighting over the last four turbulent years of her life. "Do whatever action is required, and turn it over to God" are words she lived by. Linda fought her battle with cancer just as hard as she fought her addiction by never giving up. She was strong, courageous, and a true warrior to the very end.

Linda loved all animals, and would lovingly welcome in any kitty needing a home. She left behind Ms Scarlet, Mr Mitch, and Mae Bug, whom she adored. Her "kids" as she called them, and her network of friends provided her love, support, encouragement, and a sense of purpose throughout her life. Her friends will agree that Linda's sense of humor, quick wit, and laughter will forever be remembered.

Linda was especially grateful and thankful for her loving sister, Anne Lake; mother, Marjorie Lake; and dear friend and advocate, Debra Springfield (fondly referred to as Sacramento Chicky) for their never ending love and support. Linda also leaves behind a brother, Gary Lake (Carol), nieces Lisa Coleman, Kristi Richey (John); nephew, Michael (Virginia); and three great-nephews, Ryder, Andrew, and Dane; as well as, a great-niece, Cassidy.

A celebration of Linda's life will be held at a later date.

The family requests donations in memory of Linda to the Spay-Neuter Assistance Program, (S.N.A.P.) or Tails of Rescue.
