1945 - 2014

On June 21, 2014 at the age of 68, Louie Ross Ambrose of Red Bluff, CA passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ross passed away peacefully in his home with his wife of 38 years, Lora, by his side.

Ross was born on August 1, 1945 in Oroville, CA to Louie Ray and Clara Lorraine Ambrose.

In 1964, Ross enlisted in the US Navy. After receiving his basic training in Maryland, Ross was assigned to the USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate working on the flight deck. The USS Enterprise was one of the first aircraft carriers assigned to support the operations in the Vietnam War. Ross received a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Star for his proud wartime service upon this great ship. Ross was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Ross was also a 25 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union and retired from the City of Redding Electrical Department.

Ross is survived by his daughters Lola Loray Johnston of Grass Valley, CA and Lila Rae Burns of Grants Pass, OR; dog daughter Gracie; nephew James Boyd Dougan of Redding, CA; and son-in-laws Dan Burns and Jeff Brady.

Funeral services will be held at Hoyt-Cole Chapel of the Flowers on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 10:00 am
with internment services to be held at 12:30 pm at the Northern California Veteran's Cemetery.
