Maxine Schimpff Obituary

REDDING - The world lost an energetic and amazingly talented lady, Maxine Janet Schimpff, on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, as a result of cardiac complications following knee replacement surgery.
Maxine was a most beloved 60-year partner in marriage to Don Schimpff of Redding.
She was born August 31, 1929 in Port Washington, WI to Maximillian and Louise Roska. While a nursing student she met a young U.S. Navy veteran, Don Schimpff, of West Allis, WI. They married in September, 1948, and began a family in Oak Creek, WI. Residing in Powers Lake, WI, Maxine served as controller for Repco Castings.
She lived in Colorado from 1972 to 1984, co-founding Mountain Bakery in Breckendridge and then was controller at the Holiday Inn in Frisco. Upon moving to Redding, CA in 1984, Maxine worked as office manager for VanDyke Construction. Since retirement, she volunteered as a bookkeeper and a member of the Board of Directors for the Redding Senior Center, being highly appreciated. Throughout her life, she enjoyed hiking, swimming, water skiing, backpacking, whitewater canoeing, and both Alpine and Nordic skiing.
Maxine is survived by many who miss and love her dearly, especially her husband Donald in Redding; son Jeffrey (Theresa Stabo) of Madison, WI; daughter Jennifer (Victor Nava) of Roseville, CA; sister Bernice of Seminole, Florida; and brother James of Glendo, WY. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend an informal memorial service for Maxine Schimpff on Sunday, August 30, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the family residence in Redding. A light buffet lunch will be available.
Charitable memorial donations may be sent to: Good News Rescue Mission (Memo line: In Memory of Maxine Schimpff), 2842 S. Market St., Redding, CA, 96001.
