Parry B. Scott

AGE: 85 • Skillman

Parry B. Scott, 85, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Stonebridge at Montgomery Healthcare, Skillman. Born in Beverly, he was the son of Dr. Parry M. and Augusta (Butterworth) Scott. He attended Westfield Friends Elementary School and the Bordentown Military Institute, graduating in 1947. He received his B.A. in Biology from Marietta College, Class of 1951. After graduating college he enlisted in the US Regular Army, receiving basic training at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Parry was a decorated Korean War hero, serving as a Corporal. He received two Bronze Star medals for Meritorious Achievement or Service, the Purple Heart for injuries sustained at the Battle of Triangle Hill, Kunhwa, the Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the UN Service Medal. He then served as an Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery from 1953 - 1954. In 1959 he married his sweetheart, Doris Mae Klein. He was a Quality Control Technician at Rohm & Haas, Philadelphia, for two and one half years, and Cabet Corporation, until May of 1965. They resided in Philadelphia until 1965, moving to Somerset, when he began working for Akzo Engineering Plastics, Inc., Neshanic Station. He retired in 1991. He continued to work part time until 2005, for Dunellen High School, Rite Aid, and the Bank of America.

Parry was predeceased by his wife, Doris, in 1994. He is survived by his children, Parry M. (Darla) Scott, Alpharetta, GA, Gregory (Caroline) Scott, Bound Brook, William (Janet) Scott, Neshanic Station, Annabeth Scott, Middlesex; his brother, James C. Scott of Durham, CT, and his grandchildren, Justin, Jamie, Jake, Alyson (Klingler), Corey, Preston, Shawn, and Caitlyn.

Visiting will be Friday, December 26, from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. and Saturday from 10:30 A.M. - 12:30 P.M. at Hagan-Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Ave., Bound Brook, prior to the funeral services at 12:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Bound Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675 (www.woundedwarriorproject.org/)
