Rita Turner Obituary

Rita Lyn Turner

Rita Turner was born to George and Emily Anderson on Sept 5th, 1944 in South Gate, (Los Angeles County), CA and had an older sister, Rona. Rita married Monty Turner and bore a son, Jeffrey on Nov. 21st, 1961. Monty had passed on April 20th, 2019.

Rita and family moved to Los Alamitos, CA and worked in the utility construction business for Herman Weissker, Inc. and Irish Communications in the Long Beach, CA area as Vice-President & Controller until retiring and moving to Redding, CA in 1996.

Life in Redding was very busy with 34 acres to manage, fishing, traveling, bocce ball, training their Labs for Splash Dog (Dock jumping competition) events and made many friends in the Newcomers Club along the way. They had a wonderful rescue black lab, Shasta, and then three more very active labs: Amber, Tara, and Ginger. Amber & Tara will be adopted by neighbors as Ginger will move to Virginia with Jeffrey's family.

Rita is survived by her son, Jeffrey; daughter-in-law, Jhelyn; three grandsons; Zachary; Luke, & Gabriel; nephew Eric and brother-in-law, Jerry.

Burial Service on Nov 9th, 2020, 2:00 pm at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with husband Monty. There will be a Celebration of Life, 3:30 pm at the Redding Elks Lodge, 250 Elk Drive, Redding, CA. A memorial bench for both Monty & Rita will be placed at the Mc Connell Arboretum & Gardens in Turtle Bay.
