Delores Lindell Obituary

Delores L. Lindell, 81, Urbandale, formerly of Red Oak, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at the Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines.
Delores Lee Lindell, the daughter of W. Thayer and Mayburn M. (Reed) Anderson, was born July 11, 1935 in Shenandoah.
Delores grew up on a farm near Shenandoah and graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1953. Delores married Kenneth L. Lindell on June 20, 1954, in Essex. After Kenneth finished mortuary school, they moved to Red Oak in 1957. They lived in Glenwood and Harlan, before returning to Red Oak in 1966, when Kenneth began working at Sellergren Funeral Home. They purchased the Sellergren Funeral Home in January of 1969. Delores worked side by side with Kenneth at the funeral home until they retired in January 1991. While in Red Oak, and some years following retirement, Delores was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Altrusa Club, B.P.W, Order of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, Chapter HB of P.E.O, American Cancer Society, Red Oak Country Club, Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served on the Montgomery County Health Nurses Advisory Board. Delores loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Kenneth enjoyed spending time with family and friends, winters in Texas, golfing and playing bridge and other card games. She was a 'people person' and was always willing to help others. Kenneth and Delores moved to Urbandale in April of 2012 to be closer to family.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Thayer and Mayburn (Reed) Anderson; grandparents, Emil and Josie Reed; in-laws, Bernard Lindell and Inez (Axelson) Lindell; and brother-in-law, Curt Lindell.
Delores is survived by her husband, Kenneth Lindell of Urbandale; daughter, Karla Ralston (husband Jim) of Urbandale; granddaughter, Courtney Kearney (husband Brendan); great-granddaughters, Emmalee and Aydan Kearney of Corinth, Texas; granddaughter, Jessica Hesse (husband Dan) of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; son, Dennis Lindell (wife Jamie) of Fairchild, Wis.; grandson, Hans Lindell (fiancée Rachel Horgan) of Hummelston, Penn.; granddaughter, Kristine Lindell-Pearson (husband Fred), great-grandsons, Jacob and Therin of Des Moines; sister-in-law, Jean Lindell of Omaha; nephew, Dan Lindell (wife Pat); great-nephew, Matt Lindell (fiancée Vicki Millian); great-niece, Loran Walker (husband Seth); great-great-niece, Kayla, all Omaha; niece, Darci Neuzil (husband Carl) of Dallas, Texas; great-nephew, Keaton Dunker of Denver, Colo.; great-nieces, Carley Neuzil of Hawaii, and Kelsey Neuzil of Denton, Texas; other relatives and friends.
