James Ehlers Obituary

James Edward "Jim" Ehlers, 86, Red Oak, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society.
Jim was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Paullina, the son of Louis and Ella Marie (Stzuka) Ehlers. He graduated from Paullina High School in 1950 and attended mechanic school in Omaha. He worked for Fox and Finley Chevrolet as a mechanic and later as service manager. Jim later farmed with Clyde Jones and Arnold Freeman as well as operating Ehlers Auto Repair and Southwest Iowa Shooters Supply.
Jim never really retired. In his later years, he worked for Big A Auto Parts, Brockshus Ag Repair, and planted seed for Pheasants Forever. Jim was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Izaak Walton League. In his younger years, he was quite active with the Boy Scouts of America.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and sisters, Ardy Van Buskirk and Crystal Brauer.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie Ehlers of Red Oak; children, Gina Schultz and husband Rick of Paullina; Jim Ehlers and wife Nancy of Rogers, Ark.; Bill Ehlers and wife Pam of Red Oak; Lisa Ehlers of Ft. Collins, Colo.; and John Ehlers and wife Linda of Clarinda; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
