Dear Aunt Hazel has gone on to meet her maker. I always thought the actress Lee Remick looked a lot like her. Aunt Hazel was, to me, the epitome of a classy southern lady. My fondest memories are of sitting in her kitchen and spinning through her nail polish collection on a small lazy susan in the cabinet to the right of her sink. Her favorite color had to have been Coral. I think it suited her well. Farewell, dear Aunt Hazel. I love you.

Born as a toe head with baby blues, some say she was spoiled but all eight siblings agree she made growing up on the farm more interesting with stories.
Initially as a 1st grader, Hazel, walked alone from Meadow Reedy Rd to Bryan's Mill Pond to catch the
Tar Heel High School Bus (grades 1-12), joined later by other siblings to walk the 2 miles or so through the woods/creek is among the exciting stories of youth along with trying to tame our cow "Bessie, or the mule "Blackie". She was there when each of us were delivered by a mid-wife save one. Being saved as a Christian has directed her life along with southern charm in treating everyone with respect, honesty and a cheerful greeting. A time when doors were unlocked, stores closed on Sunday, people in Sunday Church - Hazel, Dear sister, so many wonderful memories.
