EDITH LESTER
BIG CREEK, W.Va. — Edith Lester, 85, of North Fork of Big Creek, departed this life Thurs., Oct. 23, 2014 at her granddaughter's residence.
Born July 12, 1929, in Grundy, Va., she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Kansas Stacy Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jennings Lester; one son, Edward Lester; one grandson, Charles Steven Lester; one great-grandson, Austin Ray Butcher; three brothers, Buster Thompson, Junior Thompson, and Major Thompson, and two sisters, Helen Doss and Lavlet Thompson.
Edith enjoyed raising cattle, milking cows, making butter and buttermilk, working in the garden, spending time with her family and friends and going to church.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Kathleen (Earnest) Butcher of Chapmanville; one son, Charles Lester of Chapmanville; one sister, Madeline Baisden of Rossmore; seven grandchildren, Donna Cook, Tammy (Keith) Kirk, Gary Lester, Edward (Cinderella) Lester, Earnest (Mary Beth) Butcher, Meda Ferrell (fiancé, John Mayhorn), and Nancy (DJ) Kirk; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at noon Mon., Oct. 27, at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Lester Cemetery at North Fork of Big Creek.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of arrangements.

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Lester't passing. We were neighbors forever. Such a good lady. I believe Mrs. Lester and mom kept an eye on each other over the years and talked on the phone. Love and prayers to the family.
