Hello everyone. George and I we're friends since we were probably four or five. We attended in Hutchinson high School in eastchester and used to walk home together to George's house where his mom would prepare a snack for us and we would play all afternoon, I lived diagonally a block away and I could cut through the yards, making it easy to always go over and see my best friend. The 60s was a great time to grow up and George's cousins live down at the bottom of Tuckahoe avenue, where sometimes all the family would meet and we'd have fun and play games outside. The girl scout cabin was only about 500 yards away from his cousins, at the bottom of the hill. I have so many very fond memories of breaking sticks in little pieces, and making believe they were boats, and floating them down the stream there, we were in third grade. I have pictures taken with a Kodak instamatic camera, of George and I in our snow suits on his front porch when we were probably about 5... I have so many pleasant memories of my childhood with my dear friend George and there are way too many to even explain here. I just tonight heard of his passing through his daughter Leslie, and it's bringing tears... We lost contact over the years as many people do, but through the internet we found each other again, and we're always going to talk on the phone, but George said it would take days.. I agreed. I'll miss you dear friend, but rest assured I will be sharing memories with your family. Heaven has received another angel. We will meet again... You hold the record for longest and oldest of friends, I'll always love you George, rest now. John Hemberger
