Jack Cox Obituary

AYDEN - Mr. Jack Cox, 65, died at his home on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015.

Mr. Jack, also known as " the collard man," loved working in his fields and was well-known throughout the community as the best collard grower around. He enjoyed watching people's faces light up when he was able to cut a "mess" of collards for them. His family says of Mr. Jack; he was a hard worker, a very loving husband, dad, granddad, and great granddad. He would tell people of his love for his collards and that there was no place like home. He will truly be missed by all who knew him and especially the ones that bought his collards.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years and the love of his life, Joanne Cox; one daughter, Laura Roebuck and husband, Stephen; and one son, Jackie "Bud" Cox and wife, Rhonda, all of Ayden; three sisters, Ailene Tripp of Greenville, Susie Ward of Goldsboro and Olean Baker of Winterville; three brothers, Raymond Cox of Farmville, Henry Cox of Grifton and James Cox of Ayden; three grandchildren, Jessica Craft, Dylan Roebuck and Taylor Cox; and one great-grandchild, Aubree Craft.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Service in Ayden.

Online condolences can be sent to farmerfuneralservice.com. Arrangements are in the care of Farmer Funeral Service.

We appreciate all the kindness you and Jack showed to our family over the years and there are great memories of our dad "Willie Ward" and Jack. It was great to be reunited with the family through the produce Jack provided. God bless you and may the great joyful memories of his life overshadow all sorrow.
