Jesse Powers was such a nice man. always dressed super sharp. I remember him from my youth and working at Belk Tyler at the Washington Square Mall. Sounds like he lived a very full life. there is not one person in Beaufort County that wouldn’t know him from Belks. He was always wearing a smile and was a perfect example of a true southern gentleman.

My mother & I are so very grateful to have gotten to know our "Cousin Jesse" these past few years. To know him really was to love him. A devoted family man, a pillar of his community, a true gentleman, & most of all, a genuine man of God made him incredibly special. We pray for the Lord to give Kathy & Jesse - all their loved ones - the peace that only HE can. We will always cherish our time with this wonderful man.

Jesse and Cathy and families, So sorry to hear of Jesse’s passing. I’m proud to call him family. I’m glad we had the opportunity to celebrate his 100th birthday with a family reunion this past summer. He was a true gentleman with a great personality. Many people still remember him fondly for his days in the men’s department at Belk in Washington. I last saw him shopping at Belk in early December. How appropriate.

So sorry to hear about your Daddy. Lots of fond memories at Aunt Virginia's making homemade ice cream. Seemed it took forever for Jesse and Mildred to get there...I wanted Kathy to get there so we could play. Jesse was always a kind, distinguished gentleman. Prayers to all his family. Love, Teresa Taylor McRoy (Manuel's daughter).

Mr.Jesse was an awesome man. I remember him telling me once...when he was a young man he use to go into the church several hours ahead of time to start the wood fire so everyone could be warm. I always looked forward to his greetings on Sunday morning. I know he will be missed greatly.
