Rosa Pollard Obituary
AYDEN - Ms. Rosa Marie Pollard, 85, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at Greendale Skilled Nursing Facility in Snow Hill, NC. Born on April 11, 1932, she was the eldest daughter of the late Ned and Ophelia Smith- Pollard.
Ms. Rosa was a longtime resident of Ayden in Pitt County, NC. Rosa had a passion for flowers, gardening, and cooking. She was the rock of family, helping raising her siblings, nieces and nephews, since the early age of 12. Many looked to her as Ma Rosa, Aunt Rosa or Cousin Rosa.
Her smile, singing and wonderful dishes of collard greens will forever be remembered. She was a member of Popular Hill FWB Church Senior Choir and an active member of Ayden Senior Citizen Club for many years.
In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by her daughter; Rosa Christine Pollard, siblings; Jesse D. Pollard, William D. Pollard, Franklin Pollard, James E. Pollard, Elmer Pollard, Estelle Battle, Mary Lane, Ella P. Lee, Callie Kidd, Margaret Edwards, Mattie Pollard and Martha Cooper.
She is survived by two sons; Jimmie Ray Pollard of Ayden, NC, and Allen Pollard of Greenville, NC, two daughters Darlene Pollard of Ayden, NC, and Shelia Marie Dixon(husband Benny) of Greenville, NC. two sisters; Betty Williams of Far Rockaway, NY, and Velma Wooten of New Bern, NC, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 @ 1 pm, at Zion Chapel F.W.B. Church, 337 Planters St. Ayden, NC Viewing 12 pm - 1 pm prior to service.
Special Thanks to Community Homecare & Hospice, and Greendale Forest Skilled Nursing Facility for all the care and compassion shown, during our loss.
