Ruby King Obituary
GREENVILLE - Ruby Carlin King, 96, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at MacGreggor Downs Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday at 3:00 pm at The King Family Cemetery in Kinston, NC.
Born August 23, 1921 in Crowley, LA, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Sarah Carlin. She spent her younger years growing up in Louisiana, where she met her husband Bill, who was in the Army, while in her early twenties. They moved to Kinston, NC where Bill was from, and established their home. Ruby was a devoted housewife and mother. She loved to plant flowers and watch them grow. She had a love for crafts and had the ability to take a piece of paper and make it come to life. Her family was her world and you could see that from the love she shared. During her last years, she resided at MacGreggor Downs and had the best roommate around. Her name was Ader Jane Edwards and the bond they shared is one that will last for eternity. Ruby was the most loving "mama" anyone could have. She will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Preceding her in death is her husband, "Bill" Frank King, II; son, William "Buddy" Frank King, III; brothers, Red, Hilton, and Clinton Carlin; and sister, Sue Gunn.
She is survived by, daughter, Sarah Buck and husband, John of Greenville, NC; grandchildren, Jason King and wife, Anna of Goldsboro, NC, Megan Woolard and husband, Josh of Greenville, NC, Mason Buck of San Fransico, CA, Meredith King and fiance;, Brett McHenry of Wilson, NC, Evan Buck of Greenville, NC; Karen Buck and Kalyn Everington of Greenville, NC; and great grandchildren, Maddox and Wyatt King of Goldsboro, NC.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
