Anthony Gillenwater Obituary

GALESBURG - Anthony R. "Tony" Gillenwater, 42, of Galesburg, died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at home.
Tony was born Aug. 3, 1972, in Galesburg, the son of Richard E. and Kathleen Anne Hanrahan Gillenwater. He married Ericka Welch.
Tony is survived by his parents, Richard "Gilly" and Kathy, formerly of Galesburg; his daughter and son, Taylor and Jacob Gillenwater, both of Galesburg; three sisters, Laurie (Tony) Icaza of Nicaragua, Lisa (James) Hasken of Clinton, Iowa, and Tricia Tripas of Chicago; three nieces, Jessica and Tiffany Perez and Carly Hasken; and two nephews, Will and Joe Hasken.
Tony graduated from Galesburg High School in 1990. He then began working alongside his father at Industrial Movers, Galesburg. Tony was currently the vice president of the company. Tony was a member of Operating Engineers Local 649. An avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the New York Mets, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Miami Hurricanes. Tony enjoyed coaching area youth baseball and football teams. He spent countless hours supporting his kid's athletic activities. He was a dog lover and is survived by his buddy Boomer. Tony was also a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, with a visitation to follow from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed in Tony's memory to the Knox County Humane Society. Gilly, Very sorry to hear about Tony. Did not get the news until today 2/6. I had the unique opertinity to watch him grow to become a 1st class equipment installer. From our first Doorline back in 1996 to just a few years ago and all the one's in between. I will miss him and always remember.
