Charles Cannon Obituary

AVON - Charles Earl Cannon, 83, of Avon, died at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born Nov. 1, 1929, in Macomb, the son of William Cleo and Harriet Reed Cannon. He married Joyce A. Calloway on Aug. 21, 1965, in Perrysburg, Ind.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Avon; twin sons, Dr. John Glen Cannon of Boise, Idaho, and Dr. Jerry Earl (Macey) Cannon of Austin, Minn.; one daughter, Karen (Jon) Johnson of Canton; and five grandchildren, Eric Johnson, Rebecca Ann Johnson, Cole Earl Cannon, Carson Michael Cannon and Chloe Ann Cannon. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He graduated from Avon High School, Chillicothe Business College, Chillicothe Mo., and University of Illinois agriculture short courses. He worked in Chicago for several years, returning to Avon in 1961. He also drove a school bus for the Avon School District and was a co-owner of Cannon Trophies, which was founded in 1987.
He was a member of Berwick Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Warren County Farm Bureau serving as a director for several years. He was a member of the Warren Henderson Diabetes Club, serving as its secretary; a member of Avon Harmony Lodge, Mohammed Shrine; Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria; El Bon Shrine Club of Galesburg, having served as its president; and member of Us Too, Galesburg Chapter. He was a retired farmer.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at Berwick Baptist Church, with the Revs. Tom Smith and Michael Barnhisel officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by Masonic services at 10:45 a.m. at Berwick Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite and/or Berwick Baptist Church. Corman Memorial Home, Roseville, is in charge of arrangements. Please sign the online guestbook at www.cormanmh.com.
