Dean Eack Obituary

KNOXVILLE - Dean F. Eack, formerly of Knoxville, died peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at Bettendorf Health Care Center in Bettendorf, Iowa, where his son, Roger, was the administrator.
He was born as Dean Brannan in Monmouth on Oct. 17, 1925, the son of John and Myrtle Brannan. Dean was later adopted as an infant taking the name of his adoptive father (Eack). He graduated from Monmouth High School. He was a World War II veteran of the Battle of Luzon in the Philippines. He married Shirley Showalter in 1948. She preceded him in death in 2000; as did his daughter, Stacy Brannan in 2013; and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Eack in 2014.
Dean and Shirley Eack raised their family in Knoxville. Dean owned and operated Eack Insurance and Real Estate Agency until he retired. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Soper, Champaign; son, Roger Brannan of Rock Island; and son, Kevin Eack of Bloomington. He has two sisters, Genny Anderson of Roseville and Georgia Cole of Monmouth.
He had four grandchildren, Shaun Eack of Pittsburgh, Pa., Shane Eack of Indianapolis, Ind., Michelle Eack of Miami, Fla., and Michael Eack of Bloomington. Dean also had two great-grandchildren, Aisley Eack and Avery Eack of Indianapolis, Ind.
At his request there will be no formal service. There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the Knoxville Cemetery. Rev. David Shreeves will officiate.
