Gayle Potts Obituary
He was born Jan. 31, 1943, in Galesburg, to Ozro J. and Genevieve M. Pittard Potts. He married Jeanette E. Brown on Oct. 13, 1963, in Galesburg. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Brenda (and Chris) LaGrow of Rio and Carol (and Jack) Maynard of Niles, Michigan; a brother, Rolland Potts of East Moline; two sisters, Joyce (and Russell) Thompson of Cambridge and Joan Potts of Galesburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Shelly Elder; and a brother, Merlin Potts.
Potsy worked at Yemm Chevrolet in Galesburg as a mechanic for 23 years. He later was the owner/operator of Potsy's Auto Repair in Galesburg from 1988 to 2003. He enjoyed woodworking, snowmobiling and working on old cars.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Mary Runge will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the family. I had the honor of working with Gayle at Weaver Yemm Chevrolet. It would be hard to find a better man. Drank a few beers in his garage. Fun guy. He will be missed.

So sorry for your loss. Potsy was a good man and you did so much for him. I remember always seeing you both at the Kozy Inn. Miss those days. Remember to lean on your family and friends and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. If you need anything, just let us know and we will be there for you. Love you.
