Harry Newell Obituary

CHILLICOTHE - Harry Dean Newell, 83, Chillicothe passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born Oct. 8, 1928, in North Hampton the son of John and Blanche (Beaumont) Newell. He married Sarah Nolan on March 23, 1953, in Chillicothe. She preceded him in death on Oct. 16, 1986.
Surviving are five children, John (Janet) Newell of Arizona, David Newell of East Peoria, Jim Newell of Lacon, Joyce (Rich) Kneer of Monmouth and Joe (Nancy) Newell of Chillicothe; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul (Mary) Newell of Williamsfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Clyde, Carl and Glen; and three sisters, Mary Forbes, Belle McQuilkin and Jane Page.
Harry was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War from 1951-1953.
He farmed the family farm in North Hampton all his life.
He attended the Blue Ridge Methodist Church in Edelstein.
He was a collector of arrowheads, marbles and lapel pins.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Rev. Mike Robison will officiate. Burial will be in the Blue Ridge Cemetery, Edelstein. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Methodist Church or Rescue 33.
