Galva - Janice R. Evans, 82, of Galva, died at 10:46 a.m., Sunday, December 27, 2020 at her home.
A public visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Private family services will follow. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established. The funeral home will monitor capacity limits to maintain compliance with COVID regulations. The funeral home requires that all guests wear a mask for the safety of those attending.
She was born September 18, 1928 in Galesburg, the daughter of James F. and Ruth G. (Strom) Likes. She married Richard E. Evans on October 13, 1961 in Altona. Survivors include her husband of Galva, her daughter, Gretchen (Shane) Hickman of Galva, her son, Eric Evans of Altona, two grandchildren, Brooke Hickman of Galva and Taylor (Eli) Beinke of Washington DC and her sister, Jean (Gary) Burnett of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James Dale Likes and her daughter-in-law, Tammy Lynn Evans.
Janice graduated from Galva High School in 1956. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Galva where she had been Sunday School superintendent, financial secretary, a church trustee and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member, past president, treasurer and membership chairman of the American Legion Auxiliary and had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Galva and a past president.
