Jason Lindahl Obituary

ASTORIA, N.Y. - Jason C. Lindahl, 27, Astoria, N.Y., died July 4, 2012, in New York. He was born in Normal, Ill., on Feb. 22, 1985, son of Jama (Welch) and John D Lindahl. His memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, in the Parish Life Center of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Normal West High School Theater Department, 501 N. Parkside Drive, Normal IL 61761.
As a youth Jason was an active Boy Scout, working several summers at Ingersoll Scout Ranch in Peoria. His love of lighting design began as a tech for Normal West High School's theater department. He graduated from West in 2003 and received a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 2007. Moving to New York, he worked as a design assistant at Light Switch, New York, N.Y. He began his career working on "Dreamgirls," an international touring show, as a multimedia design assistant, and most recently was the video technician for "Spider-Man" and "Ghost" on Broadway. In January 2012 he started his own company as a Designer and Video Technician at JCLindahl in New York.
He married Ya-Han Tsui on Feb. 9, 2011, in New York. Their daughter, Arya Yuna Lindahl, was born Dec. 29, 2011. Jason is also survived by his parents, Jama (Welch) and John D Lindahl; a sister, Larisa (Korey) O'Keefe; grandparents, Louis and Elizabeth Lindahl; many uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family. To those who knew him he was a bright, shining star and will always be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband and father.
