NEW WINDSOR - Joseph Christopher Cecil, 56, New Windsor, died at 2:42 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Joe was born Aug. 23, 1961, in Galesburg, the son of William N. and Mary A. (Pullen) Cecil. He married Vera Norris. ogether they had one son, Josiah (Lacey) Cecil of New Windsor. He later married Shirley Rednour in 1991. She preceded him in death in 1993. Along with his son, Joe is survived by his mother, Mary Cecil of Galesburg; three brothers, Tom Cecil of Big Rapids, Michigan, Tim (Connie) Cecil of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Brian Cecil of Galesburg; two sisters, Susan (Terry) Bruns and Marcy Cecil both of Galesburg; along with three grandchildren, Seth, Noah and Ethan Cecil. Including his wife Shirley, Joe was preceded in death by his father, William, and his beloved canine and best friend, Sky.
Joe worked for many years at Mitsubishi Motors, retiring in 2000. He had been attending college for gaming and graphic design. Joe was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Galesburg. He was a music buff and enjoyed spending time listening to music. He will long be remembered as a loving and kind man who had the biggest heart.
Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. A memorial Mass will follow at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio officiating. Burial will follow Mass in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made in Joe's memory to OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, or to the Guardian Angels Humane Society.
