Lois Schmalshof Obituary

AVON - Lois Illene Schmalshof, 88, Avon, died at 4:34 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019, at home.

She was born Saturday, Feb. 7, 1931, in Greenbush, the daughter of Glen and Verna (Vandeveer) Simmons. She married Donald E. Schmalshof on March 26, 1950, in Greenbush. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2011.

Lois is survived by two daughters, Susan Thompson of La Marque, Texas, and Brenda (Randy) Sensabaugh; two sons, Andy (Tammy) Schmalshof and David (Kate) Schmalshof, both of Greenbush; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Clyde W. Austin; husband; and two brothers.

Lois was born and raised in Greenbush, where she has lived within two miles her entire life. She was a member of the Greenbush Christian Church and later the Roseville Christian Church. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She was active in Home Extension and was a 4-H Club leader. Lois was a member of the Greenbush Quilting Bee, the Greenbush Community Card Club and the Warren County Genealogy Society. She left a city girl from Greenbush and farmed with her husband for many years. She was a true home artisan.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at Wise Family Funeral Home in Avon. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenbush Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Avon Lions Club (help with the hearing impaired) and/or the Main Street Flower Planters. So sorry to hear of Lois's passing. Loved her and learned so much from her as a 4-H Leader. Miss the old neighborhood. Blessings of comfort to you all.
