CHARLES "CHARLIE" USEFORGE

1929 - 2017

Charles "Charlie" Useforge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at his home. He was the devoted husband of Lorraine (Beaudoin) Useforge for 63 years. Charlie was born January 21, 1929 in West Hartford, CT. He graduated from The Gilbert School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war stationed in Alaska. He was a self employed Carpenter and a talented woodcarver. Charlie loved gardening, music and singing. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He was a wonderful, craftsman who celebrated every year the day he came to Winsted which was May 5th. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sister-in-law and neighbor, Yvonne Beaudoin; close friend, Dexter Weaver; longtime family friend, Joyce Youmatz and husband Alfred; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by longtime family friends, Sophie and Phil Silverio and Phil Silverio, Jr.Friends may call on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 4 – 6 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at St. Joseph's Church, Winsted at 10 AM with Military Honors. Burial will be held in the spring at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Winsted.
