Helen LaGamba Obituary

LAGAMBA, HELEN Winsted: Helen LaGamba, 81, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the Torrington Health and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Winsted, July 18, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Domenica (Russo) LaGamba and had lived here all of her life. Prior to her retirement from Pitney Bowes, she had worked at Dano Electric for 30 years until their closing. She was a graduate of The Gilbert School, where she was the Valedictorian of her class in 1950. She was also a graduate of the Hartford Business School. In addition to her loving sister Josephine with whom she made her home, she is survived by Deletta Cornelio, also of Winsted and a brother, John (Madeline) LaGamba of Torrington; a sister in law Betty LaGamba of Torrington; several nieces & nephews, David Cornelio, Joann & Arthur Richardson, Patricia & Thomas Olzanski, Gloria Faye, Nicholas LaGamba, Susan LaGamba, Diane & Mark Zukowski, Michele & Brian Swanson, Robert Nicosia, Sylvia & George Connor and several grand nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas LaGamba and a sister, Coreen Nicosia. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 10:30 AM from the Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street, to St. Joseph Church for the funeral liturgy at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held in St. Joseph new Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home the morning of the funeral from 9-10:30, prior to mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony School or to St. Joseph Church. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.maloneyfuneral.com.

I considered Helen to be my Winsted Sister. I worked with her for many years at Pitney Bowes. My condolences to to her family. A new Angel has entered heaven. God Bless You.
