Joseph Narkiewicz Obituary

TORRINGTON - Joseph P. Narkiewicz, 89, of Scott Drive, Torrington, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of the late Frances Ostroske. Born Dec. 14, 1921, in Bristol, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Bogen) Narkiewicz.
He served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney as an Engineer until his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid sportsman, especially fishing and golfing.
He is survived by a brother, Atty. John J. Narkiewicz and his wife Joan of Farmington; a sister, Jane Budnick of Stamford; a step-son, Gary Ostroske of New Orleans, La.; a life long companion, Ruth Phelps of Torrington, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Road, Harwinton, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1309 Stanley St., New Britain, CT with full military honors. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
