My Grandpa Clark as we called him when I was a child was a man I admired. I am proud of his military service and although he rarely spoke of it to me, his service and my mother's military service helped to inspire me to join. Grandpa and Donna spent time with me when I'd visit in the summer and they always planned adventures, from hiking and canoeing to fishing and site-seeing. Grandpa could be quite obstinate and yet he seemed to become more gentile over the years. The man I knew was patient and kind and although a little unorthodox, Grandpa always meant well and managed to bring joy to others despite his quirky methods. I will never forget, on my last visit with Grandpa and Donna in Eugene, I marveled at all the beautiful and lush vegetation. While riding along with Grandpa on his Meal-On-Wheels route, my husband, Bill and I saw the most beautiful rose bushes and as it was August, they were in full bloom. Grandpa stopped the car, grabbed something from under the seat and cut a rose off the bush and asked me to hold onto it. I panicked thinking we would be caught stealing. Grandpa said that the lady down the street needed that. Sure enough, the lady at his next stop lite up when he handed her the rose. And that is the man Grandpa had become and why he was so loved. I am so fortunate to have known my Grandpa, especially into my 40's. Grandpa will be missed as he brought a lot of joy to others' lives. Like Donna told me, we will always have the memories.

Thanks for taking care of me grandpa when I was little and for setting a good example for me to follow. Just a week before you left us, you spoke to me so clearly and asked about the political situation here in Thailand. Everything is fine with angels like you watching from above,

You were a great neighbor to all of us at SongBrook, especially the Cu l-de-sac you lived on. Always willing to help your neighbors in time of need. Also, your personality was uplifting; we will miss you greatly.

Art stood the Flag Line with me on several occasions. He and his friend Ron were a welcome sight during some of the harsh winter days. As a Ride Captain for the Patriot Guard Riders and Past WM of the Masonic Lodge (222)I convey my condolences. Art stood proudly in memory of our Veterans, never asking for any special consideration on those cold winter days.
