Benjamin Wellette Obituary

Our beloved Benjamin (Ben) Wellette age 76, passed peacefully in the arms of our Lord, on May l4, 2015, in the presence of his loving wife and family at home. The viewing will be held on Wednesday the 20th of May, from 6-8 p.m. at Bowman Funeral Parlor located at 10254 W. Carlton Bay, Garden City, Idaho, 83714.

The funeral services to be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise, Idaho, 83714 at 1:00 p.m. on the 21st of May, with a celebration of life to follow.

He was a devoted husband and father, who will be missed greatly by his wife Carol, son Bruce and Christine Wellette of Arizona; and daughter Jennifer and Scott Soutworth of Tennessee; four grandchildren: Brandon, Tifaine, Logan, and Peyton; a brother, Steve Wellette, sisters, Sarah Cross and Sandra Askew.

Ben was born on March 21, 1939, in Eugene, Oregon, to parents Buford and Alverta Wellette, where he lived for sixty five years (Go Ducks). Ben was enlisted into the United States Army in 1961 and served his country in Fort Bragg, North Carolina until 1963. He earned his parachutist badge and had a specialty title of carpenter.

In 1979 Ben met the one true love of his life, Carol Jones, and in 1981 were married. Ben built a retirement home for the two of them in Eugene. Soon after his retiring from the Southern Pacific Railroad as a Locomotive Engineer for thirty three years, Ben and Carol made the move to Idaho for better weather and family (Go Broncos), where they lived in Boise for ten years. After purchasing a vacation home in McCall, Idaho, Ben and Carol decided to make it their permanent home in March of 2014.

Ben loved to travel the world. He had a love for building as he built two of their family homes. Ben was always willing to help others when in need, and asked for nothing in return.

He will always be remembered for his love of the Lord, his integrity, honesty, and his service to his country. He had a great respect and honor for all who served in the military.

We thank God for our Ben and ask Jesus to embrace him for us until we are all together again.

Carol
Our love, thoughts, and prayers are with you. Ben was a wonerful brother and I will miss him deeply. I love his pictue, he would smile like that as a teen. That is the smile I remember when he brought his oldsmobile 88 home he was so proud and tickled. I loved his voice, the sound of it when he would say "Well hello little sister and I would say hello big brother. He will be missed with very fond memories.
Love you Dave and Sara

We were close as kids. I remember celebrating most major Holidays with our families together, having lots of fun and great food. Time and miles took us far apart, but the Bond was never broken. I will always remember Benny as a tall, handsome guy with a big smile and great heart!! Love you... See you in Heaven!!

Ben and I left Eugene on the same greyhound bus on 5 Dec 1961, and spent the night at the Portland YMCA. The next day we had our final physical and were sworn into the US Army to serve our great country. Then we flew to Ft. Ord, CA. We did not serve in the same company after that. Enjoyed seeing Ben from time to time in Eugene over these 50 plus years. Sincere condolences to Ben's family.
