Matthew Ball Obituary

Our beloved Matthew Lee Ball, 31, Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Grandson, Nephew, Uncle, and friend passed away at home on May 13th, 2015. A resident of Eugene, OR, Matthew was born in Cottage Grove, OR on April 17th, 1984 to Jack Richard Ball and Teresa Rotter-Ball. Matthew leaves behind his wife Dalida Dawn Ball, two beloved children Ethan, 9 years old and Joshua 8 years old. He is also survived by his Grandparents Joyce and Harry Rotter, parents Jack Richard Ball and Teresa Rotter-Ball, his brother Levi Ball (wife Beth), brother Patrick Ball, numerous nieces and nephews, and many Aunts and Uncles.

Matthew was passionate about his family and he loved them fiercely. As a child he built a house with his brothers and grandfather. Matthew also enjoyed reading. BBQing, the yearly family reunions held throughout Oregon, watching the Seahawks, and hiking with his sons. Matthew was known for his "shit eating grin" and his amazing sense of humor. Matthew recently landed his dream job as a diesel mechanic, and often talked about fixing up his old Dodge Dart with his sons. His family and friends will miss him greatly.

Matthew's memorial will be held on Monday, May 18th at 5 PM at North Side Free Will Baptist Church. The service will be open to the public- all friends are encouraged to come and share their favorite stories of Matthew.

Hearing about your passing has hit me like a ton of bricks old friend!! I know it had been some years since we have spoken and that pains me for I never had the chance to catch up on old times and say goodbye. We had a lot of good times when we were younger and a lot of memories were made that will never be forgotten. When I started going down the wrong path using drugs you told me I was better than that, but I didn't listen. I should have but things are different it just took me longer to see the way things should have been. I guess this is goodbye my friend may you rest in peace!!

Unable to find the words to pour out what is in my heart Matt. It's been a long time since you and I actually spent time together..always the running into each other briefly here and there thing..and I'm sorry about that, however in seeing you those times, the light in your eyes when you brought up your boys told the story of your life as a man and a father. :) I remember the first time I'd ever actually met you, although you and the other kids had been friends for a while and I'd heard about you, you told me "Thank you" for going out of my way in protection-mode (you know what I'm talking about) and I thought that was really cool and thoughtful, very mature...that framed our relationship from there through those years. Those memories, along with the memories of your very formative years, live in my mind, just as you live in the hearts of my family. Rest easy hon...See you again! ~K~

Oh Matthew how I love you so much. You are such an amazing husband and father to our babies. It's been a few days and I've realized that if love could bring you back you would be here. So much love and support has been giving by many. I want you to know the boys and I will be okay in time. It's gonna be hard and have days of uncertainty but we will be okay. I love and miss you terribly sweet husband of mine.
