Matthew Meier Obituary

Matt Meier passed away peacefully at home due to complications of cancer at the age of 85. He was born to Michael and Margaret Meier in Linton, North Dakota in 1928.

He served in the United States Navy from 1946-1950.

Matt married Delores Malsom February 17, 1953. They were married 60 years.

As a child of the depression, Matt learned the value of hard work, coming from a family of 8 brothers and 1 sister. He worked a variety of jobs during his career and retired from EWEB. He will be remembered as someone who always helped others. Among the many things he enjoyed were his family (especially his grandchildren) his good friends and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Delores, sons Bruce (Laurie), Steve (Gloria), Dave (Rhonda), 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Visitation/Rosary will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church Sunday December 22nd at 6:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, Monday December 23rd at 11:00 am, to be followed by a Committal at West Lawn Memorial Park 225 S Danebo Avenue, Eugene.
